A contingent of around 25 people who oppose the "Value Them Both" amendment to the Kansas Constitution rallied in protest Jan 14 in Augusta, rallying at Augusta Plaza. "This was our first rally in Augusta, and that really needed to happen," said Rebecca Wetzel, one of three women who helped organize the rally.

TOPEKA — After the first presumptive positive case of monkeypox in Kansas was identified over the weekend, doctors are confident risks to the public remain low. On Saturday, Kansas and Johnson County health officials announced — based on lab testing — the state’s first presumed case of monkeypox in a Johnson County man.
