Freya Study Club Meets for 2022-2023

Members of the Freya Study Club gathered for a luncheon at Areletta’s Kitchen in Burns for the first meeting of the 20222023 year. Hostesses included Lauren Davis, Jo Hess, Paula Pepperd, Janice Shaffer, Bernie Spradling, and Kelsey Sundgren. Hostess Marlene Rethman was unable to attend. Vice President Bernie Spradling led the reading of the club collect and said grace. We then enjoyed a delicious home-cooked meal in a cozy setting filled with antique furniture, lovely china, and vintage decor. Members also had the opportunity to purchase delicious baked and canned goods made by Areletta Koehn and her daughter, Gwinda Koehn.

Fly Kansas Tour Comes to Butler

This year, the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Division of Aviation has partnered with the Kansas Commission of Aerospace Education, (KCAE) to host the Fly Kansas Air Tour next week starting Thursday, October 6 – Saturday, October 8. With nine stops on the tour, the three-day event focuses on bringing the community to bring awareness, excitement and education about careers in aviation.

Dollar General Literacy Foundation Awards $31,000 to Kansas

Dollar General Literacy Foundation The Dollar General Literacy Foundation, (DGLF), announced the award of $31,000 in youth literacy grants to Kansas nonprofit organizations, libraries and schools. The funds are part of more than $3 million recently awarded across the country and aim to narrow the gap between learners’ needs and programs’ financial resources by providing books, technology, equipment or materials to youth education programs.
