Decorating Downtown

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Downtown El Dorado. The City of El Dorado has been busy decorating the street lamp posts all around town while volunteers with El Dorado Main Street install the big candy canes and candle decorations.

Dear Readers, Merriam-Webster’s defines nostalgia as “…a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for a return to a past period or irrecoverable condition.” Though memories of Christmases past rise this time of year, that’s not why I’ve been I’ve teetering on the brink of melancholy. Battle of the Ugly Sweaters

The third annual Christmas sweater battle has begun It was 3 years ago that Josh Franklin, (Andover), posted a picture of himself in a Christmas sweater to Facebook. His good friend Ben Henwood, (Derby), then shared a picture of himself wearing the same sweater saying, 'who wore it better?' This turned the friends into foes for the season, competing all month for who had the better ugly Christmas sweater photo.

Grand Ole Opry Veteran Comes to El Dorado

Hometown Christmas in Andover

ANDOVER, KAN. Monday, November 28 – Andover’s Hometown Christmas event will take place on Thursday, December 8, 5:30 – 8 p.m. in Central Park. The entire family will enjoy hay rack rides, children’s activities, s’mores with first responders, time with Santa, hot beverages, and so much more.
