Along with the News Team Weather man, Camden Mertz will tell you how to keep your trips safe and how to plan accordingly for the week.

Community Gift Giving

The Captain Edgar Dale American Legion Auxiliary Unit 81 in El Dorado recently showed their dedication to the local community by delivering Christmas gifts to Veteran residents at three nursing homes in the area. The three homes were LakePoint El Dorado, El Dorado Care and Rehabilitation and Homestead of El Dorado.

Butler County is a wonderful county with a plethora of things to do, eat, see and explore. Jan. 23’ North Butler 4-H Club Report

The first meeting of 2023 for the North Butler 4-H club was held on January 9, 2023 at Emmaus Church. Jeremiah Goebel called the meeting to order and invited Rustin McLaughlin and Julia Amend to lead the Flag Salute and 4-H Pledge. Roll call was “How long did you stay up on New Years?” and 20 members responded. Council members announced the next County 4-H Council meeting is January 26, 2023. Donovan Brewer read the past three months club meeting minutes. Julia Amend stood in for (treasurer) Ella Amend to inform that the club balance remained the same. The great song of Happy Birthday was sung to Natalie Worrell, Wyatt Klingenberg, and Hadley Miller. Kate Klingenberg was welcomed as a new 4-H member to the club and received 4-H goodies!

Starting Seeds at Home

The weather last week was simply beautiful and it’s really had me thinking of spring these days. Over the last few weeks, I took some time to sort through my garden seeds, order some new varieties to try and get ready for this year’s gardening season. While we are still a few weeks away from starting most vegetable seeds inside we can start some of our annual flowers already. Let’s go over the basics of seed starting and trouble shoot some common issues, so you have some tips to help get started this spring.

DHS Brings Student News

Extra, extra, read all about it! More like watch all about it. Douglass High School has recently announced they’ve added their own student-run news channel on Youtube. The idea came from a hopeful future journalist and broadcast lover himself, Jaytin Cathey, a Sophomore at DHS.
