BuCo Teachers Selected for Cosmosphere Fellowship

Four Butler County teachers have been selected for Cosmosphere’s 2023 LaunchLearning Fellowship, an honor which comes with over $800 in free resources teachers can share with their school and district. The 2023 class of LaunchLearning Fellows includes: Jayson Schwinn, USD 402 Gifted Education, Marilyn Cook, Lincoln Elementary, 4th grade, Stacia Kaylor, Andover Central Middle School, Earth and Space Science, and Nick Krahn, Towanda Intermediate, Math and Science.

Local Designer in ICT Fashion Show

Andover designer features clothing in ICT Fashion Tour Last Friday, Andover resident and fashion designer Libbi Jessen featured her personal clothing designs on the catwalk of the ICT Fashion Tour, (ICTFT). The pop-up fashion show took place at Vanya Designs where Jessen works in Wichita and is the first show of many to come for the 2023 season.

Winter Homecoming Royalty, Pt 2

Crowning a homecoming king and queen has been a tradition in the United States since the early 1900’s. The host of the first-ever homecoming game is unsure, but the title was given to the University of Missouri when they held a homecoming football game for alumni in 1911. Since then, winter sports has added on a homecoming celebration as well. Last week we featured Bluestem, Andover Central, Andover High School and Flint Hills High Schools winning candidates. This week we will feature winning candidates from Douglass, Remington and Rose Hill High Schools. Next week we will feature winning candidates from Circle, El Dorado and Augusta High Schools.

Governor’s One-Shot Hunt Dissolves

The Governor’s Annual One-Shot Turkey Hunt, a non-profit headquartered in El Dorado, Kansas, dissolved it’s organization and operations December 31, 2022. Founded in 1986 by El Dorado Chamber president Marv McCown, then Kansas Governor Mike Hayden, and community businessman Ramon Criss, the Hunt hosted hunters from all over the United States.

K-State Cattleman’s Day

MANHATTAN– Kansas State University’s Animal Sciences and Industry Department will host Cattlemen’s Day 2023 on Friday, March 3 at Weber Hall in Manhattan. A highlight of this year’s event will be Jason Sawyer, East Foundation chief science officer, who will discuss Navigating the U.S. Carbon Market.
