Cold temperatures did not keep the members of Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Auxiliary at home on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Auxiliary members gathered at Trinity United Methodist Church for their general meeting. The group enjoyed treats provided by hostesses Janet Baker, Rita Johnson, Teresa Smith. President-Elect Jeri Burton led the members in the flag salute and the Auxiliary prayer.

35th Annual Kansas Veterans & Family Reunion

Wichita - Kansas Veterans & Family Reunion is proud to announce the dates for this year’s event at El Dorado Lake, to celebrate the 35th annual KVFR! The 2023 Kansas Veterans & Family Reunion will be held June 16th – June 18th, 2023 at Veterans Point at El Dorado Lake. The theme of this year’s reunion is “Celebrating Veterans & Their Families!” Our event started in 1988 with a group of Vietnam Veterans who just wanted to re-connect with those they had served with and to meet other Vietnam Veterans.

Too Cute Tuesday

Hickory Hollow Animal Refuge Our Tuesday cutie is Waylon, a two year old pup ready to leave the shelter. Taken in seven months ago as a stray, he came neutered and seemed to be well taken care of, leading the volunteers to question if he was an abandoned dog.

Dead or Alive?

Dear Readers, I admire Mark Twain but I disagree with his statement “An adventure is something that while it’s happening you wish you it wasn’t.” For example, I had quite an adventure through a ghost town. Though we never saw the old buildings my friend and I thought were there, we found signs indicating we were in the right place. And it was clearly inhabited by a handful of the living.

Walk Kansas is Back!

Each year about this time, I get very excited about a program that rallies thousands of Kansans and their friends to have fun and improve their mental and physical health. It is a program I have participated in since I was in the 8th grade, and am excited to implement this year in Butler County. This program is called Walk Kansas.

Integrity Medicine & Empower Physical Therapy

The city of Andover welcomed a new family medicine and physical therapy office on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Integrity Medicine, who shares an office space with Empower Physical Therapy, both hosted a ribbon cutting and open house with the Andover Area Chamber of Commerce from 3-6 P.M. They served cookies, cupcakes, chex mix, doors prizes and a free drink from Buffalo Brew Coffee Company.
