After more than 20 years of petitioning and fundraising, the City of Augusta will finally have a skate park this summer. Joshua Burns along with his nine year old son Nolan and many other passionate skaters have been working hard to bring a skate park to Augusta.
The Augusta Department of Public Safety, (Augusta DPS), attended an Advanced Animal Cruelty Investigations and Collection seminar on Monday in Wellington. Officer Natalie Coffman, Augusta DPS Animal Control, was in attendance.
EL DORADO – El Dorado Correctional Facility (EDCF) resident Marcos Issac Delarosa died Monday, March 13, 2023. He was found unresponsive in his housing unit. Staff began life-saving measures immediately and continued after emergency medical services arrived. The cause of death is pending the results of an independent autopsy. A preliminary assessment indicates the death was not related to COVID-19.
Reversed roles gave the monthly meeting a different look. Parent night enabled the parents to lead the club for their children’s offices. The following parents of Lori Goebel acted as chair; Bonnie Brewer, secretary; Mindy Amend, treasurer; Anna McLaughlin, 4-H Council representative; Ann Brackenridge, reporter; Bonnie Brewer, song leader; and Mindy Amend, recreation leader; made the March 13 monthly North Butler club meeting entertaining!
El Dorado resident Niomi Ndirangu was crowned Miss Kansas’ Outstanding Teen 2022 last March. She will be crowning her successor on Saturday evening at the WSU Metroplex where 17 young women from across the state will be competing for over $20,000 in scholarships and the honor of representing Kansas as Miss Kansas’ Teen 2023 at the Miss America’s Teen competition later this year.
March is Women’s History Month and Sierra Marie Bonn is helping celebrate with a school tour to donate a copy of her book, “Innovators: women in history who have made positive contributions to STEAM” to every fourth grader in Butler County.
Hickory Hollow Animal Refuge The cutie for this Tuesday is Gypsy! She is a five year old German Shepard mix. She’s great with male dogs but doesn’t like females.
The effort will boost wireless coverage at the Whitewater location and extend broadband connectivity to residents in the Whitewater region Whitewater – On Thursday, Mid Kansas Cooperative, (MKC), announced a collaboration with Land O’Lakes and Verizon to expand broadband internet access to residents of Whitewater, KS and the surrounding community. Through this partnership, a wireless communications tower has been built and turned on by Verizon at the MKC Whitewater facility. This effort to improve connectivity has the potential to provide residents in this rural area with additional broadband services in their homes.
