Living History of Butler County

The Butler County Historical Society Home of the Kansas Oil Museum is gearing up for two notable events aimed at bringing history to life for the community.Ken Spurgeon, historian for the museum, detailed the events in a recent interview, underscoring the museum’s dedication to preserving and interpreting the rich tapestry of local and state history.“The first of these events is a ‘Living History’ series, scheduled to occur on the first Saturday of each month from April through October, beginning on April 6th,” said Spurgeon.The events will feature costumed interpreters who will embody various historical figures and lifestyles, providing attendees with a unique window into past.

El Dorado designates website as official city newspaper

The City of El Dorado approved a resolution to change the way they publish public notices moving forward.During the March 18 El Dorado City Commission meeting, the City Commission passed a resolution many newspapers are facing in the last couple of years that designates the city of El Dorado’s website as the official city newspaper.The resolution allows the city of El Dorado to publish all public notices and ordinances through their website only and lifts the requirement that they publish them through the Butler County Times Gazette which has been the official city newspaper for many years.When CherryRoad and Times-Gazette employees were present to address the city during their first attempt to resolute the ordinance on Feb.
