Butler County EMS Kids Camp is a two day event for kids in 5th, 6th, and 7th grade who are taught lifesaving skills from trained first responders. Campers are placed in groups of 10 with members of EMS, Fire, Dispatch, Police, Sheriff, and local hospitals leading the group. Day one starts off with a crash scenario with multiple patients. The kids will listen to the 911 call and then watch as Police, Sheriff, Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services ground and air transport respond to the call and go into action. Immediately after the scenario the campers are lead inside the EMS building as one large group to learn about the dangers of weather and how to identify different cloud formations. Next various stations are set up for the children to visit and learn about First Aid, CPR, vehicle extrication, water rescue, firearm safety, trench rescue, firefighting and much more. Day 1 concludes with a little time at the El Dorado pool where they can learn about water rescue and how to throw a rope to a person who is in trouble.
