As we dip into a new year, the memory of the 2024 summer drought is still fresh in our minds as we watch the snow melt into the ground, hoping it can help the water issue Kansas is experiencing statewide. Though a lot more snow is going to be needed to help solve that. Now, with Wichita increasing their water rates, which passes onto Andover residents, Mayor Ronnie Price says the issue could be solved by connecting Andover to the El Dorado Lake.

At the Butler County Commission meeting on Tuesday, January 14, the Commissioners approved the purchase of an asphalt paver for the Public Works department that totaled over $500,000. They also approved County Clerk Tatum Stafford to change voting hours to match the rest of the state and voted in the new Commission Chair/Co-Chair.

As the cold weather and several delays strain the Central Avenue Project, the City of El Dorado says the project is otherwise moving along as it should. The project, which began in June, is centered around improving and overhauling downtown flood water management as well as new waterlines for westward delivery.
