Andover's Assistant City Manager Jennifer McCausland receives honor
Meritrust Credit Union is proud to announce Jennifer McCausland, Assistant City Administrator for the City of Andover, as the 2018 Byron G. Stout IV Spotlight on Wellness Award recipient. This award memorializes Meritrust’s beloved champion of wellness, Byron Stout, who passed away in June 2015. As a part of the honor, Meritrust will be donating $1,000 to a local charity on behalf of McCausland.
“Byron was a champion for living a balanced, wellness-minded life,” says James Nastars, Meritrust President/CEO. “We’re proud to honor his legacy with this award and recognize Jennifer for her contributions to the community.”
In her role with the City of Andover, McCausland has led the way in initiatives that support wellness and community impact, including the Fall Health Day for the City of Andover employees and the City to City Challenge against Goddard, Kan., a wellness-focused friendly competition for city employees. She spearheaded the creation of a focus group in conjunction with the YMCA to move the City of Andover toward an updated tobacco policy to encourage smoking cessation. McCausland’s efforts in workplace wellness have contributed to more than 60% of their employees reporting they made an improvement in their overall wellness over a three-year period – and these programs were implemented on just a $5,000 budget. In addition to her workplace contributions, McCausland, a busy mom and community supporter, focuses on living a balanced life – emotionally, physically and financially. Her personal steps toward a balanced life include healthy eating and meal planning, personal physical activity goal-setting, and financial budgeting for her family.
“Wellness is a way of living,” McCausland says. “It can’t be just one part of your life, and wellness is ever-changing for each of us, dependent upon where we’re at in life. I’m in a good place in my state of wellness and this helps me want to motivate others to find that same place.”
The award will be presented to McCausland in late August at the 14th Annual Working Well Conference in Wichita.
