Hannah Wagner becomes Miss Kansas
The stunning Miss Augusta 2015 Hannah Marie Wagner was crowned Miss Kansas Saturday night at Pratt Community College.
Wagner, 19, and daughter of Mark and Krista Wagner of Wichita, is a student at Wichita State University majoring in business. Her platform is fighting women’s complacency in the workplace.
She won the preliminary swimsuit award on Wednesday and the preliminary talent award Thursday for her impressive ballet en pointe from Swan Lake.
“What a journey! What a great ride it’s been! I’m so proud of Hannah being crowned Miss Kansas. She was definitely the front runner,” Larry Strong, director of the Miss Augusta/Miss Butler County Organization and mentor to both competitors, said. “Kiah Duggins [Miss Butler County] is also a remarkable young lady. She has so much talent and poise. She was in the top 10 and received the Miss America Academic Award, receiving $2,000 in scholarships. Augusta and Butler County can be very proud of these young ladies.”
On Wednesday evening at pageant events, Strong was awarded the Deanna Strambaugh Service Award for his many years service to the pageant system and for being highly respected for producing a state-of-the art local pageant each year.
The final runners-up were (1) Miss Metro KC Hannah Fox, (2) Miss Johnson County Jennifer Salva, (3) Miss Heartland Cassie Lohmeyer of Benton, and (4) Miss Sedgwick County Hannah Langley.
Also in the Top 10 were Miss Butler County Kiah Duggins, Miss Topeka Mai-Thy Ta of Augusta, Miss Capital City Jade Dowling, Miss Greater Wichita Annika Wooten and Miss Walnut Valley Kristen Boxman. Miss Hay Capital was voted as Kansas’ Choice and became the 11th semifinalist.
Miss Kansas will be a contestant in the Miss American Pageant on Sept. 13, in Atlantic Ciy, N.J.
This is the second time Miss Augusta has been named Miss Kansas. Emily Deaver of Augusta was crowned Miss Kansas 2008.
