Taylor Williams and Alex Clausing, who had brilliant four-year careers as Orioles, were named the Augusta High School 2012 athletes of the year.
“It means a lot to me, because there’s a lot of athletes in our class,” Clausing said. “so to kind of come out on top means a lot to me.”
“It’s great, just awesome,”?Williams said.
Williams played for the volleyball, basketball and softball teams all four years and earned multiple All-League honors throughout her career.
Clausing was co-captain for the football and basketball teams and competed on the track and field team this year.
AHS athletic director Doug Law presented them plaques. Clausing is the 42nd boys athlete to have his name inscribed.
“I know that all the guys that I saw on there, looking at them, those are great athletes,”?Clausing said. "It's an honor to be on there with them."
For Williams, she will have the first name on the second plaque for the girls athletes of the year. She the 37th girl to receive this honor, an award presented by the AHS Booster Club.
