Augusta senior Zach Budda accomplished one of his major goals he had this season Friday at the El Dorado track and field meet.

Budda broke the school record in the high jump, setting the new mark at 6 feet, 8 inches. Budda had come close at the Orioles' home meet a couple weeks ago, but finally got it this time around.

The previous mark was set by S. Simon at 6'7" back in 1974.

"It's really exciting to see Zach break the record," coach Steve Reichardt said. "It's a goal he has been working hard to achieve."
