Jim was born on December 19, 1938 in El Dorado, Kansas the son of Slade and Marjorie (Jackson) Boone.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1957-1961, where he was originally stationed at Francis E Warren Air Force base in Wyoming as a warehouse specialist. During his years in service, he spent twenty eight of those months overseas in Spain, and was honorably discharged in July of 1961. He went on to work at Montgomery Ward for a period of time, then worked for Doctor Scholl’s as a traveling salesman, and later took a manager position for numerous Love’s convenient store locations in Kansas. In 1982 he started working for Wonder Bread as a route delivery driver, which he made his career of and retired from in 2002. He took great pride in being the “wonder bread” man, he was such a hard, and reliable worker. This job required lots of long hours, but no matter the weather conditions, or if he didn’t feel well he always made sure to get his route done regardless.
Jim married Kathleen (DeRome) Boone on December 27, 1979 in Kingman, Kansas and together they raised 5 children, and shared 42 years of love, and happiness. He enjoyed sports (specifically KU), home remodeling projects, family gatherings, holidays, his two dogs, vacations with Kathy to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, camping, gardening to make his backyard his oasis, sitting on the deck to enjoy the outdoors, politics, but above all his greatest love was for his family. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Kathy Boone; children, Lori (Gary) Frye, Brad (Schandra) Boone, Kimberly (Tommy) Thornton, Stephanie (Seth) Potts, Matthew (Katy) Boone; grandchildren, Brandee (William) Guthrie, Brandon (Brooke) Mallory, Chris Mallory, Nathan Frye, James (Jenny) Frye, Travis (Monica) Frye, Sierra Boone, Samantha Bourbon, Chris Chastain, Dustin Fisher, Karri (Chad) McCoy, Slade Potts, Gatlin Potts, Allison Rausch, Arsyn Robertson; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Delores Baker, Shirley Clark; brother, Dennis (Jackie) Boone, and many nieces and nephews.
