Gene Emerson Manning

Gene Emerson Manning went home to the Lord on January 27, 2022 at the age of 88. Gene was born on February 13, 1933 in Peabody, Kansas, the son of Raymond (Mike) and Myrtle (Senior) Manning. He attended Hamilton and East high schools in Wichita, and graduated from Emporia Kansas State Teachers College in 1962. He began working for Beech Aircraft in 1963 and retired from there in 1992. Gene was a member of the Shriners, Scottish Rite, and the Masons and served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 as a radio operator. He was a member of the First Christian Church in El Dorado, On May 9, 1954, he married Mary Ann (Dyer) Manning.

Survivors include sister, Sue Manning; children, Randy (Barbra) Manning of El Dorado, Cynde (David) Neufeldt of Inman, Diana (Reuben) Busenitz of Montana, and Linda (Lance) Varley of El Dorado; 13 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; parents, Mike and Myrtle Manning; and brothers, Bill Manning and Ron Manning.

A Memorial service will take place at 2pm on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at First Christian Church in El Dorado with Pastors Stan Seymour and Jason VanPelt presiding. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Whitewater Cemetery. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Van of Mercy.
