Mark Allan Carney

Mark Allan Carney died Thursday, January 20, 2022, at KC Hospice House in KCMO with family by his side. He was born to Charles and Peggie Carney in Chicago, IL, on January 5, 1944. He married Judy Ubert at St. Agnes Church in Roeland Park, KS, on August 12, 1968. He is survived by Judy and their two sons, James (Kristie) and Patrick (Aimee), and four granddaughters-Leona, Maeve, Margot, and Taryn.

Mark graduated from Rockhurst High School, attended the University of Missouri, and earned his Master’s Degree from Fort Hays State University. He was a teacher, coach, and school administrator throughout his career at the following KS high schools: Pratt, El Dorado, and Kapaun Mt. Carmel in Wichita. His last job before retirement was at Kapaun where he served as Athletic Director. Mark had a great, lasting impact on the athletes he coached and remained life-long friends with many of them.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother Peggie, his grandmother Violet Jean Shaw, his step-grandfather A. R. Shaw, his uncle Allan Shaw, and his aunt Valerie Houlihan.

The private family service can be joined virtually at https://kcnativity.org/onlineevents (Funeral Mass Livestream) on January 31 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, KS.
