Katherine Jill“Kathy” Bohnert, Certified Dietary Manager at Susan B. Allen, passed away on January 18, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. Kathy was born on May 4, 1961 in Independence, Kansas, the youngest child of Donald and Marietta (Durant) Newton. She attended El Dorado High School graduating Class of 1979 and then began working at Susan B. Allen in dietary on September 1, 1981 and spent 38 years there working her way up to Certified Dietary Manager. Craftiness came naturally to Kathy as she enjoyed crotchet, painting, plaster of paris and any other things that let her express her creativity. Reading was always a favorite pastime but music was her favorite; especially going to concerts and festivals if it was classic rock or country. Kathy was well known for her big heart and being very sweet, loving and always having an infectious smile. She could be ornery at times and loved her holidays always dressing up decking out for each one. Her cats and her family were the most important things to Kathy and she cherished family get togethers and being with her grandkids. Her siblings were very proud of the care her children provided for her. Katherine is survived by her son Matthew(Lindsay); grandchildren Alec, Corbin, Adelyn and Delilah; siblings Marilyn Newton, Debra Johnson and John Newton(Sandra); many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother in law Dennis and her beloved cats.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home, 206 E. Central Ave., El Dorado. Rosary will be 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 with funeral mass following at 10:00 a.m., both at St. John Catholic Church, 302 N. Denver St., El Dorado with Father Lanzrath presiding. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
