Augusta – Shirley Lee Childres, 62, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021.
Shirley was born on Tuesday, February 3, 1959 in Glen Rose, Texas to Jim and Bettie Jo (Lytal) Jackson. Later on adopted by Robert and Ruby (Lytal) Mower. Shirley had earned a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Human Resource Development. She was an Aircraft Supply Manager for 32 years. After retiring, Shirley opened her own massage and handcrafted goods shop called “The Five Senses”on 5th Avenue in Augusta. Like a forest fire her passion and love burned bright, spreading to and consuming people she touched. It went on, never has, and never will burn out. Our rock, our glue.
Shirley is survived by her husband Charles; son Seneca (Shandi) Childres of Bella Vista, Arkansas; daughter Heather Childres of Wichita; grandchildren Sontee Burns, Seceda and Barrett Childres; siblings Billy Joe Jackson, Carolyn Swilley and Debbie Richerson.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents.
Viewing will be on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 5-7 pm at Dunsford Funeral Chapel in Augusta. Graveside Service will be on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 10am at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
