A 63-year-old man was arrested on October 6 in connection to a fatal shooting incident that happened around 4am that day at El Dorado Lake.
Jeffrey Alan Boucher, who was living out of his SUV long-term at the lake, was taken into custody for second degree murder. The man called 911 operators to tell them he had shot 57-year-old Rodney Logan of Augusta.
Upon arrival at the scene, Butler County Sheriff’s Office deputies found Logan unresponsive, later pronouncing him dead at the scene. Boucher had shot him five times after an altercation.
The Sheriff’s Office disclosed to the Times-Gazette that Boucher told investigators that Logan had driven into Goose Cove Campsite within 20-30 feet of him. Logan was unloading his fishing equipment when an altercation took place. That’s when Boucher reportedly pulled his gun out and shot Logan five times, killing him.
Why the altercation occurred is unclear. The two men didn’t know each other before this altercation took place.
Boucher has one pending charge of murder in the second degree and will make his first appearance in Butler County courts on Wednesday.
Those accused of crimes are innocent until proven guilty.
