A man was fatally shot in the early morning hours on Monday at El Dorado Lake. A suspect is in custody and there is no threat to the public at this time.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, around 4:10am on Monday, October 6, Butler County Dispatch received a report of a shooting at Goose Cover Campsite near Bluestem Point in El Dorado Lake.

Upon arrival, deputies found 57-year-old Rodney Logan of Augusta unresponsive from gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office say this was an isolated event and the details leading up to the fatal shooting is not yet known.

A suspect is in custody, but the Sheriff’s Office says they aren’t releasing the person’s name yet as the investigation is ongoing. There is no active threat to the community. They will release more information about the incident as it becomes available.
