World War II History Center Museum
The World War II History Center Museum and Research Library is happy to announce the addition of a Program and Education Director. The Board of Directors approved Deborah McNemee of El Dorado, Kansas to fill the position on March 23, 2025.
McNemee has nearly 20 years of experience as a professional educator. She has served on the board of Kansas Association of Teachers of English and has led professional development for organizations such as Kansas Leads and The Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum. She currently serves as the Gifted Education Facilitator for USD 402. She joins a volunteer staff that includes the following:
-Executive Director and Assistant researcher, Doug Odom
-Museum Store Manager, Loren Anthony
-Webmaster and WWII Reenacting Corps Commander, Erik Runge
Filling this position will enable the History Center to streamline the school field trip program, establish an educator workshop series, and develop partnerships with high schools to help students meet graduation requirements for volunteer hours.
The History Center continuously works to expand its capacity to remember, honor, and educate citizens regarding this important historical era.
The History Center is staffed by volunteers and funded by donations. Currently, supporters can purchase raffle tickets to win a M1 Garand rifle and case. The center is located at 119 W Central Ave in El Dorado. Operating hours are Saturday 12-4pm, or by appointment.
