As the sleet, ice and snow fell across Butler County, many drivers decided to stay home unless an emergency was present, or they needed to work. There were 17 motor vehicle weather related accidents reported by law enforcement agencies and Butler EMS alongside 10 fall victims. They were reported individually as:
Andover Police Department: 0 injury or weather-related incidents. Only helped a couple of stuck vehicles.
Augusta Department of Public Safety: 1 minor injury accident on Saturday
Benton Police Department: 0 incidents
Butler EMS: 9 injury weather related accidents over the weekend and 10 patient falls due to ice.
El Dorado Police Department: 1 non-injury weather related accident on Saturday, 2 non-injury accidents on Sunday and 1 motorist assist at 6th/Haverhill who was stuck Sunday evening.
Rose Hill Police Department: 0 incidents
“Overall, we were very blessed that people understood the severity of the conditions and those that did drive through Andover were very safe,” said Andover Police Chief Buck Buchanan. “It also helped that the City of Andover public works did an outstanding job keeping the roads as safe as possible.”
Officials are still discouraging non-emergency travel today and tomorrow.
