A Butler County Sheriff’s Deputy rolled her vehicle while enroute to the report of a shooting at the El Dorado Lake early Monday morning. Sheriff Monty Hughey reports that the Deputy has no major injuries and is recovering at home.
Around 4am on Monday morning, Butler County Emergency Communications received a phone call about a shooting at the El Dorado Lake. That’s when Chloe Walker, 25, with the Butler County Sheriff’s Department began to drive to the shooting in response.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that she was northbound on Shade Creek Access Road when her 2022 Dodge Durango left the roadway to the left. The vehicle struck the west embankment of the Boulder Bluff Road and became airborne before landing and rolling an unknown number of times.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office disclosed to the Times-Gazette that the vehicle had caught fire after rolling. Walker was able to escape the vehicle with no major injuries and was transported to an area hospital. She is now at home recovering.
“She’s a great deputy,” said Sheriff Hughey. “She’s now at home recovering with no major injuries. She’s a little shaken up. We will evaluate what happened when she can return to work.”
