Teen injured after HWY 400 accident

A 15-year-old male was transported to a hospital after an accident on HWY 400.

Around 4:29pm on May 29, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Butler Count EMS, Augusta Department of Public Safety Fire division, and the Leon Fire Department was dispatched to an motor vehicle injury accident involving multiple vehicles with entrapments near SE HWY 400 and SE Teter Rd outside of Leon. Upon arrival, deputies from the Sheriff’s Office located four vehicles that had been involved in the accident.

Two vehicles traveling eastbound were stopped to turn north onto SE Teter Rd. A pickup truck, driven by a 15-year-old male from Leon, was traveling behind the two vehicles and swerved into the westbound lanes, causing a head-on collision with another westbound truck.

The young male had to extricated by fire personnel and was transported to a Wichita area hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Two other vehicles were damaged during the crash, but no other injuries were reported.
