Butler County EMS, family and friends of Justin Lauppe continue in the process of mourning the beloved Paramedic with funeral and memorial services to honor him on Thursday.
During the time of funeral services, neighboring EMS partners will serve Butler County to allow adequitte time and space for current Butler County EMS service members to attend the funeral in it’s entirety and participate in all memorial services.
From 8am-4pm on Thursday, May 22, surrounding EMS partners will respond to calls within Butler County. During this time, other EMS and ambulance agencies will be in the Butler County community. If there is a different ambulance that doesn’t have Butler County EMS on it – this is ok and they are supposed to be there.
“Their willingness to step up and provide exceptional care to our community, allowing us to properly honor Justin, means the world to us,” said Stuart Funk, Public Outreach & Education Director at Butler County EMS. “Please keep the Lauppe family and the Butler County EMS family in your prayers during this difficult time.”
Lauppe passed away while serving the Butler County community on May 16, 2025. He was on the job responding to an emergency medical call when he collapsed and was taken to a nearby hospital. He was a 16-year veteran of emergency medical services and law enforcement, serving Winfield, Sedgwick and Butler County, and even El Dorado Parks and Recreation.
Lauppe joined Butler County EMS three and a half years ago where he quickly became a close family member to everyone he knew from the local hospital staff, law enforcement officers and his own team at Butler County EMS.
A memorial and funeral service for Lauppe has been organized and scheduled for Thursday, May 22 in Park City. A public viewing will be held from 11:30am-1pm followed by funeral services at 1pm.
