Equality El Dorado to celebrate grand opening of new LGBTQIA+ Community Resource Center on June 5

Equality El Dorado

Equality El Dorado is proud to announce the Grand Opening of its new community space on Wednesday, June 5, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. This come-and-go event invites the public to stop by anytime during the open house hours to tour the space, meet the board, and learn more about the organization’s mission and work.

What began in 2019 as a simple Facebook page has grown into a full-fledged movement for inclusion and support in the El Dorado area. In 2024, the organization officially adopted the name Equality El Dorado and formed a board of nine passionate local leaders committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.

The 2025 Board Members are:

Cortnie Killen, President

Kera Boyce, Vice President

John Jones, Secretary

Brianne Dennis, Treasurer

Adrienne Towner, Board Member

Trisha Ann Klaus, Board Member

Rosie Carter, Board Member

Melodee Rutliff, Board Member

Hali Stevenson, Board Member

Thanks to the generosity of Patrick and Katie Todd, who offered the group a discounted rental space in downtown El Dorado, Equality El Dorado has found a physical home. The organization has filed for nonprofit status and is currently awaiting approval. In the meantime, it is operating solely through the support of individual donors. All furnishings and supplies have been donated by members of the local community.

“Our journey is deeply rooted in the love and generosity of the people around us,” said Cam Austin, Equality El Dorado. “This space is not just a location—it’s a symbol of hope, connection, and community.”

Mission Statement:

Equality El Dorado is dedicated to building a stronger, more inclusive community where everyone feels seen, supported, and celebrated. Through education, advocacy, and meaningful connection, we empower LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies to create lasting change and foster a culture of belonging in El Dorado and beyond.

The Grand Opening is free, open to all, and come-and-go—guests are welcome to stop by at any time between 3:00 and 7:00 PM to explore the space, and connect with the team behind Equality El Dorado.
