According to a press release sent out by County Administrator Will Johnson’s office, several county buildings in Butler County will be closed to the public on Wednesday, April 2 due to a water outage. Those buildings that will be closed include:

-The Historic Courthouse

-East Annex

-Judicial Center (District Court) buildings

It was reported in the release that contracted crews working on a City of El Dorado project notified the county that the water would need to be shut off in order to continue a water main repair. These repairs will take place for most of the day on April 2 and are expected to be completed by the late afternoon on the same day.

The only exception to the closing will be informal hearings for property value appeals with the County Appraiser’s Office, which will be held as scheduled. All court hearings scheduled to appear in person at the Judicial Center will utilize Zoom calls for April 2 and will be available to stream on Youtube.

Only essential employees will report for duty that day to each building with all employees returning to work on Thursday, April 3. The county noted at the end of the release that although it’s April 1, this isn’t an April Fool’s Day joke.
