Enjoy drinks while raising funds for the Historical Society and Museum

Downtown Augusta, also known as the Red Brick District, will once again be busy as participants dressed in green walk from business to business and enjoy adult beverages.

The annual Augusta Pub Crawl is back this year, scheduled for March 15. The crawl leads participants around downtown Augusta while visiting 18 small businesses in the Red Brick District to enjoy varied adult beverages. The idea of creating an event to attract people downtown around St. Patrick’s Day came just two years ago and has been a hit each year.

The first year hosted 15 participating businesses and saw 120 crawlers. With two new breweries opening and Holiday Bowl revamped, more drink stops have been added. Last year’s crawl hosted nearly 200 participants and 13 businesses, selling out of entry koozies.

Instead of wristbands or tickets, koozie purchases through donation gain participants entry into the crawl. This year, an extra 150 koozies were purchased due to popularity of last year’s crawl – they wanted to ensure they don’t sell out again. The donations from participants cover the production of the koozies plus any extra being donated to the Augusta Historical Society and Museum after the crawl is done.

Last year the crawl raised over $1,000 for the museum.

With the new Common Consumption ordinance in place, this year’s participants can take their drinks to go as long as they stay within the Red Brick District parameters as set by the City of Augusta. Drinks can be taken to go must be in a Common Consumption cup and from a business with a liquor license. If a business doesn’t have a liquor license, the beverage must be consumed inside the business before leaving.

Participating businesses for this year’s crawl include The Holiday Bowl, Butler County Outfitters, Park Bench Brewing, Redbud Brewery, Sugar Shane’s Cafe, Free State Cycle Works, BonBons, Marketplace 67010, Antique Forum, Studio 106, Brick Street Tattoo, Cozy Kiln, Dream Weavers, Boutique 1631, District Tan 316, Bricks Bar & Grill, and Sam’s Fudge.

Entry koozies can be purchased at Free State Cycle Works for $5 during operating hours, which are 10am-6pm Monday-Friday and 10am-4pm on Saturday. The crawl will take place from 12-4pm, although the Red Brick District will be open all evening.
