Staff at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital have reported that the first baby of the new year has been born as of Thursday evening. The happy parents, Geoffrey & Valerie Tholstrup, say this is their first child.

Agnes Mabel Tholstrup was born on January 2, 2025 at 5:31pm. She weighs 6lbs, 4.4oz and is 18 and three quarters inches tall.

The family current lives in Wichita due to it being Geoffrey’s hometown, but Valerie is an El Dorado native and wanted to birth her baby at SBA. Dr. Camille Russell-McKesey, M.D., delivered the baby and has cared for Valerie for 13 years. The new mother says she chose to deliver at SBA due to the quality care she’s received over the 13 years and will continue to care for the new baby at SBA for years to come as well.

“I’ve been seeing Dr. McKesey for 13 yrs now,” said Valerie. “We moved to Wichita because my husband is from there but I didn’t want to switch doctors. I really like Dr. McKesey – I saw her when I was young and have had a good relationship with her since.”
