Due to low appointment bookings and to ensure a more flexible timeframe for citizens, the El Dorado Police Department has decided to make VIN inspections available at any time.
The agency started to offer VIN inspections again back in October 2024, a service they announced in December 2023. The service hasn’t been offered in Butler County since for nearly five years. Instead of only offering the services on Tuesday and Thursdays, it was decided to open the services to any day, any time, with an appointment.
The flexible inspections started on January 1 to make the process more convenient for citizens who couldn’t make the smaller timeframe. An inspection can be scheduled by calling the agency at 316-321-9120 during business hours. For after hours or on the weekends, appointments can be made by calling dispatch at 316-322-4398 and requesting a shift supervisor to return the call. Dispatch will work with the shift supervisor to schedule the appointment at the Police Department or at the person’s residence, if residing in El Dorado.
To receive an inspection, one must bring $20 cash, the vehicle to be inspected, the vehicle’s original title, and a valid driver’s license. Photocopies will not be accepted. The El Dorado Police Department is located at 128 N Vine St.
