Around 7:43pm on December 5, the El Dorado Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 block of N Alleghany with the report of a house fire. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters observed a single-story home with heavy fire activity at the front of the home.
As personnel was working to extinguish the fire, search and rescue operations commenced. Inside the home, two people were found already deceased. A married couple, one man and woman, by the names of Dennis, (76), and Lorene, “Joyce” (70), Gleason were removed from the home. Due to the ongoing investigation in the death and fire cause, the names couldn’t be released to media personnel until this week.
Due to extensive fire damage, the cause couldn’t be determined but was ruled as nonintentional.
“Our condolences go out to the families who suffered a loss due to the fire,” said Deputy Fire Chief Tony Yaghijan.
Firefighters from both El Dorado fire stations, volunteer and student firefighters responded to the fire alongside Butler EMS, and the El Dorado Police Department.
