Mary Lou Dickson, 95, passed away on October 24, 2022, in her home in Gilbert, Arizona after a long illness. She was born in Glencoe, OK on April 16, 1927, to Hazel and Thomas Rice. In 1946 Mary Lou married Virlen Divine. They moved to El Dorado, KS and raised 2 children. Mary Lou’s husband died suddenly of natural causes in 1967. She rose to the challenge of raising a family as a single parent and secured a postion in the local public school. A few years later she married Billy Dickson and they were together for 49 years. The family moved to CA in 1971 where Mary Lou attained an associates degree with a teaching certificate and worked as a teaching assistant and substitute teacher. Mary Lou and her husband also pursued several entrepreneur endeavors including a Hallmark store and real estate rentals. They retired and moved to AZ in their early 70s. Although Mary Lou had declining health the last few years she would still break into a broad smile when greeting you. Whether she knew you or not, she would affectionately call you ’Honey’ and then that smile would burst across her face. She is survived by her son Richard Divine and daughter Kristy Thompson, also her daughter-in-law Mona Divine and son-in-law Scot Thompson. She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands, parents and five siblings. Memorial Service will be in El Dorado, Kansas in the spring of 2023.
