Wilbur S. Ayers

Age 95 Of Burns, KS Wilbur’s life began on June 22, 1927 in Mulvane, KS; the son of Raymond C. and Velna M. (Seaman)Ayers. He attended school in Mulvane and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1945. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy Reserves for 13 years. On August 24, 1984, Wilbur was united in marriage to Bonnie (Abraham) Plummer. Wilbur worked in the auto parts business for many years, at Boeing and also for Circle USD 375 as the bus maintenance supervisor. He was most proud of being a farmer. Wilbur enjoyed going to farm sales, sometimes as many as 3 in one day! Wilbur and Bonnie shared a passion for dancing and loved to go every opportunity they could. Wilbur could be found riding his bicycle when he was able and used it to trek across the farm and even to the mailbox. His greatest joy was his family, which includes his wife, Bonnie of Burns, KS; children, Max Ayers of Mulvane, Vic Ayers of Wichita, stepdaughter Ceresa (Kenton) Brown of Arkansas, stepdaughter-in-law Dorothy Plummer of Towanda; grandchildren Lacey, Jared, Mallory, Heather, Candice, Bethany, Breann, Jillian, Steven, Thomas and Aaron; 15 great grandchildren. Wilbur passed away on August 30, 2022 in El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Wanda Ayers, daughter-in-law Nancy Ayers and stepson Jess Plummer. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Thursday, September 8 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 9 at 10:30am at Cornerstone Bible Church in Burns, KS. Graveside services will be held at the Belle Plaine Cemetery in Belle Plaine at 2:30pm on Friday, September 9. Memorial contributions in Wilbur’s name may be directed to the Cornerstone Bible Church.
