Hermie Nelson, 89, of Augusta Kansas and formerly of Clarion, Iowa, passed away with family by his side on Monday, August 5, 2022. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Hermie Gitle Nelson was born October 24, 1932 in Harris, Iowa to Hermie and Leona (Winter) Nelson. He graduated from Harris High School in 1954. After high school Hermie married Wilma Parks in 1954. For many years Hermie and Wilma made their home in Clarion, Iowa where he owned and operated Hermie Nelson Ford.

After retirement from the dealership Hermie and Wilma moved to Augusta, Kansas, where he was a life insurance agent.

Hermie attended the Church of Christ in Augusta, Kansas. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, NASCAR and antique cars.

Hermie is preceded in death by his infant daughter Camilla, his wife Wilma, and parents Hermie and Leona. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Connie (Dale Lee) Nelson and Rebecca (Tim) Chipman, sons Hermie Gene (Baer Hanusz- Rajkowski) Nelson and Christopher Nelson; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and brothers Jim Nelson and Loren Nelson; sisters Ceona Nelson Voss and Lois Nelson Koolstra.
