Mona Rose Halliburton

Andover- Mona Rose Halliburton, 88 years, two months and 7 days old left this Earth on February 25, 2022. She was born to Walter M. McGuire and Gladys Fern (Downing) McGuire on December 18, 1933 in Arkansas City, Kansas.

Growing up she lived in Muskogee and Westville Oklahoma where she graduated. Later, moved back to Ark City where she met and married Leroy “Hal” Donald Halliburton. They moved to Andover, Kansas where they made their home and raised two children; Jeffrey and Karen. Mona worked at David’s, Kmart, but was best known as the “Courtesy Booth Lady” at Ed’s Andover IGA, also as his book keeper for over 20 years. She was smart as a whip, honest, as she would say “Sometimes TOO honest”, she was also kind, friendly, tough as nails, and usually one step ahead of us all. She would “talk your leg off” if you let her. She lived in Andover for over 50 years, then moved a few times in her later years to be closer to her kids. She ended up living her final year back in Andover at a care home. She passed away peacefully with her daughter and one granddaughter by her side.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother; two sisters; and many other family members and friends. Now celebrating in Heaven with those she loved and missed so dearly.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey D. Halliburton of Park City, Kansas; Daughter Karen (Harry Lee) of Piedmont, Kansas; brother William (Brenda) McGuire of Jefferson City, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mona Halliburton’s Celebration of Life will be held on April 23, 2022 from 12-2 p.m. at Andover 13th Street Sports Park, welcoming anyone who would like to attend.
