Janet LeVone (Hutson) Arnold passed away on March 19, 2022, at the age of 77.
Janet was born on April 24, 1944, in Topeka, Kansas, to Ralph John Hutson and Nadine (McClaflin) Hutson.
Janet was married to Gary Cartmell at the time of her passing.
Janet is survived by her son, Jay Rogers and his wife Mary, of Cassville, MO, grandson Drew Hutson Rogers, of Rogers, Arkansas, granddaughters Veronica Hutchens of Cassville, MO, and Gail Herrick of Blue Springs, MO, brother Mike Hutson and his wife Kathy, of Derby, Kansas, sister Kay McClure of Leon, Kansas, stepsons Steve Arnold of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and Doug Arnold of Derby, Kansas.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Julie Lynn Searles, her brother David Lane Hutson, and her stepdaughter Cheryl Arnold.
Janet’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, but she also loved going to auctions and finding treasures of all kinds. Janet was proud of her work in pastoral care as a Certified Lay Minister for the United Methodist Church. She loved planting flowers and making her yard look beautiful, often decorating with the Kansas sunflower and her favorite bird, the cardinal. She also spent a great deal of time canning her famous sand plum jelly and sharing it those she loved.
Visitation for Janet will be from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, at the Leon Christian Church, in Leon, Kansas, with services starting at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at the Leon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Janet requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research hospital, left in the care of the Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta, Kansas.
