Cassoday-Calvin’s life be-gan on July 5, 1930 in rural Cassoday, KS; the son of Robert and Stella (Hall-man) Hinde. He was a 1947 graduate of Cassoday High School.

He was united in marriage to Hazel “Marlene” Andrew on September 9, 1951 at Cassoday Methodist Church, celebrating over 70 years of marriage. Calvin worked hard for his family as a maintenance supervisor for Skelly, Getty and Texaco refineries from 1952 until his retirement in 1989.

He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and was involved in many civic duties. Calvin is a former mayor of Cassoday and a councilman. He was a lifelong member of the Cassoday United Methodist Church and was on the United Methodist Volunteers In Mission.

His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife, Marlene of Cassoday; children Mark (Linda) Hinde of Garden City, Randall Hinde of Centerville, Connie (Roger) Hall of Norman, OK; grandchildren Joshua, Danielle, Nicole, Daniel, Sarah, David, Tyler, Bryce, Rebecca, and Rachel; several great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nephew Russell Hinde; nieces Karol McLaren and Karen Karsten; brother Marvin Hinde of Newton.

Calvin, 91, passed away on March 4, 2022 in El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may gather with the family at 10:30am on Saturday, March 12 at Cassoday Church for a memorial service. Calvin will be laid to rest at the Cassoday Cemetery.
