Kevin Donald McKendry

Kevin Donald McKendry, 37, died suddenly Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born December 9, 1984, in Denver, Colorado, the son of Donald McKendry and Phyllis Clapper. He grew up in and around Denver with his father and two older siblings until moving to Kansas the summer of 2002, to stay with his aunt and uncle to finish school. For a short time, before becoming a heavy equipment operator for Wildcat Construction, he worked at the local Dillon’s grocery store, which is where he met his wife of 15 years, Heather (Jackson). They married August 18, 2006 in El Dorado and continued to live in and around the area until his passing.

Kevin loved football and hunting, but more than anything, he enjoyed spending his free time out fishing his wife, and he cherished every minute he could spend with his family! He was a die-hard Denver Broncos fan, and he would never miss the opportunity to talk crap to any Chief’s fan!

Kevin worked hard every day and he loved his job! Though they liked to get under each other’s skin, he was very grateful to get to work for Jack Hosler, who became like a second father to him. Kevin was ornery to the core and always knew how to make people smile. He was without a doubt one-of-a-kind and he left an imprint on every life he met.

Kevin was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother and grandfather, Judith and Ed Zolinski.

He is survived by his father and mother; his sister, Michelle (Eric) Pottorff and their two daughters, Aspen and Jurnee, all of Montrose, CO; his brother, Matt McKendry of Littleton, CO; his brother-in-law, Jeremy Jackson of El Dorado; two aunts, Shannon (Rob) Debus of Eaton, CO and Joani (Barry) Purdy of Wichita, KS and their 3 children, Phillip Debus and Hailey and Natalie Purdy; his maternal grandparents, Lester and Phyllis Clapper; his wife, Heather; as well as a huge family of in-laws who all loved him dearly.

Memorial donations in Kevin’s name can be directed to Heather McKendry to defray funeral costs, medical expenses, and living costs due to the unexpected passing of Kevin.

A gathering of friends and relatives will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 10am-12pm at the Rosalia Community Building. Please sign his online guestbook at www.carlsonkirbymorris.com
