EL DORADO – Samuel “Sam” Binter’s life began on February 8, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas; the son of Clarence and Mary E. (Schreck) Binter. Sam graduated from El Dorado High School in 1953. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1955- 57. Sam worked hard for his family at Skelly, Getty and Texaco refinery before retiring as a lab analyst. He had a love of tennis like no other. He helped found the BCCC Tennis Association and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Sam faithfully attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in El Dorado his entire life. His greatest joy was his family which includes his daughter, Shelley (Joe) Weaver of El Dorado and son, David Binter of Wichita. Sam passed away on December 9, 2021 at his home in El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his sister, Sue and his parents. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Tuesday, December 14 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. A rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 15 at 9:30am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am. Sam will be laid to rest at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado. Memorial contributions in Sam’s name may be directed to the BCCC Tennis Association or to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
