Joyce Marie (Taylor) Pippig was born on January 12, 1933, in Oil Hill, Kansas, the third of four children to Ira C. and Nellie (Richardson) Taylor. She passed away at Homestead Assisted Living El Dorado on November 29, 2021, with family present. Joyce lived in the El Dorado area all her life. In Oil Hill, she and her brothers enjoyed playing outside and entertained themselves with games of softball and kick the can. She attended Oil Hill School where she was involved in basketball, track and softball. At El Dorado High School, she was a member of the Pep Club and graduated in 1951. On April 9, 1953, Joyce married Gerald E. (Jerry) Pippig at the First United Methodist Church of El Dorado. They were married nearly 68 years before Jerry passed away on March 21, 2021. Joyce was a retired bookkeeper and receptionist, and she also assisted Jerry in their business, Fulmer Studio of El Dorado, for many years. She attended the First Christian Church of El Dorado and was a member of the Red Hat Kickers for 18 years. She especially enjoyed the Kickers’ Style Show and the fun part she played in the show. Joyce and Jerry enjoyed traveling the country and spending time with good friends. They tried to take a trip at least once a year to visit state and national parks where they enjoyed hiking. Joyce’s favorite place was Yosemite, but she also enjoyed Yellowstone, the Smoky Mountains, the Texas coast, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Osage Hills State Park in Oklahoma. Joyce will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and friend. She was always up for good fun and laughs with friends and family. When things would get a little hectic, her favorite phrase would be “Oh, what a rat race!” which could always get a giggle from her kids and grandkids. Joyce is survived by two daughters, Sandra Blackburn (Rod) and Karen McLaughlin (Troy), and a son, Michael Pippig (Jan) all of El Dorado. Surviving grandchildren include Danny Konert, Ryan Pippig (Halie), Addison McLaughlin, Derek Pippig, Skylar Blackburn, Rachel McLaughlin and three great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Clifford, Leland and Larry Taylor, and a son-in-law, Larry Konert. Joyce requested no public service. Memorials may be sent to the El Dorado Senior Center, 210 East 2nd Avenue, El Dorado, KS 67042, in memory of “Joyce Pippig.” Please sign her online guestbook and leave a memory of Joyce at www.carlsonkirbymorris.com
