The Circle volleyball team is showing improvement near the end of the season, and a 5-0 finish at their home invitational is proof of that.

The Thunderbirds did not even drop a set as they rolled to a tournament championship. After beating Wichita North, Independent, and Eureka in pool play, the Thunderbirds defeated Lyons in the semifinals. Circle had no trouble with Lyons, winning 25-9, 25-12.

In the Championship, the Thunderbirds handed Douglass their third loss of the year by a score of 25-15, 25-18.

The Thunderbirds have now won seven straight matches without losing a set.

“This team played with great energy and focus throughout the

day. I was pleased with our offensive power all day as all five Circle hitters had at least 10 kills,” said Circle head coach Shelly Nibarger.

The JV team also finished 5-0 to win their tournament in El Dorado, while the freshman team won the Andale tournament with a record of 5-0.

The Thunderbirds will get back to work on Tuesday, Oct. 9 as they will travel to Winfield High School to take on Wellington and Winfield.
