The McPherson Bullpups cruised past the El Dorado Wildcats by a score of 56-8 on Friday night at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex. The McPherson offense was unstoppable on the back of 147 rush yards and 4 rushing touchdowns from senior running back Jace Kinnamon.
The Wildcats opened the game on a positive note with an interception on McPherson’s first drive of the game. The Bullpups quickly bounced back, forcing a punt and scoring two touchdowns in a two minute span near the end of the first quarter to go up 14-0.
Midway through the second, Kyler Hoppes completed a nice pass to senior Chandler Wiard for a 26 yard touchdown. Wiard then added six more to McPherson’s total with a pick-six just 19 seconds later to give the Bullpups a 28-lead.
A touchdown reception by Gabe Hoover at the end of the quarter increased the Bullpups advantage to 35 heading into the half.
Coming out of halftime, McPherson picked up where they left off. Jace Kinnamon added two more touchdowns on the ground to, giving McPherson a 49-0 lead midway through the third quarter.
The Wildcats offense finally found their step with just under seven minutes left in the fourth, as senior running back Quistion Wade found his way to the end zone for a 35-yard touchdown run. A successful two point conversion rush by Zach Buckley made it 49-8.
McPherson capped off the win with a rushing touchdown by freshman Aiden Hoover in the closing minutes of the game.
The Wildcats fall to 1-2 on the season, and will make the journey to Kansas City on Saturday, Sept. 22 to take on the Gryphons of University Academy Charter who are also 1-2 on the season.
With the win, the Bullpups improve to 3-0 this season, outscoring opponents by a score of 124-15. McPherson will host the Abilene Cowboys on Friday September 21st. The Cowboys currently sit at 1-2.
