The El Dorado football team kicked off the 2018 season with an impressive 36-8 road victory over Independence on Friday night.

The Wildcats dominated from the kickoff unit time expired, finishing with 443 total yards compared to Independence’s 140.

El Dorado senior running back Braden Morgan led the way for the Wildcats on the ground, racking up 202 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries. Morgan also led the Wildcats with two tackles for loss.

Cody Wittenberg, the Wildcats’ senior quarterback, completed four passes on seven attempts for 54 yards, and also picked up 74 yards on the ground.

Zack Buckley hauled in two receptions for 17 yards, and Jonah Winter caught one pass for 29 yards.

El Dorado will face a tougher opponent this week, as the Wildcats will host Buhler (0-1) at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex on Friday, Sept, 7 at 7 p.m.

Buhler fell to Newton 34-26 at home in week one.
