Last season, the Circle soccer team got off to a forgettable start, but turned it on late in the season to finish 8-7-1. In the first seven matches of the season, Circle suffered six losses and a draw before winning eight of their last nine.
The Circle soccer program is now lead by first-year head coach Andrew Stauffer. The T-Birds return many familiar faces from last season, and are hoping to keep the momentum from their late-season success.
Gage Storm, Gavin Carson, Braden Ketley, Ryan Hanneman, and Alec Wilkson are the returners who made an impact last season and are expected to be important to the team’s success this season.
Staffer also expects help from two new forwards.
“Two new faces that we have on the team that are already making huge impacts for our team are Devon Zorn and Paul Gonzales,” said Stauffer.
“These two along with Gavin Carson are making our front line and they should be producing a ton of goals for us this season.”
Staffer is also confident in the T-Birds ability to be aggressive this season, rather than defensive.
“The biggest Change that we are making from last year, is our style of play, moving from more of a defensive to an aggressive attacking style of play,” said Stauffer.
“I am excited to be taking over this program, by building on the success they had last year.”
Circle will kick off their season at home against Wichita West on Tuesday, August 28.
