The El Dorado Broncos fell to the Hays Larks in three-game road series over the weekend.

El Dorado scored three in the top of the second in Friday’s 5-1 win at Hays. After giving up ine in the bottom of the sixth inning, El Dorado added two insurance runs, one in the eighth and one in the ninth.

Tanner Schuetz went 4-for-5 hitting in the three hole, driving home two runs and scoring one. Jaret Koin batted 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Maddux Solomon scored twice reaching base twice, once on a walk and once on a hit to finish the day 1-for-3.

For Hays Clayton Rasbeary went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Bronco pitcher Daniel Nelson went seven innings on the mound. He gave up one earned run, walked one and struck out six.

In game two Saturday at Hays, the Broncos fell 10-2. The Larks started with a run in the bottom of the first, then added one run the third, four runs in the fourth, a run in the sixth and three runs in the seventh.

The Broncos scratched across two runs in the top of the fifth. Schuetz and Solomon drove home the runs scored by Jordan Anstanding and Tucker Catlett.

Larks Pitcher Mason Myhre struck out three and walked four in 4 1/3 innings of work. He gave up no runs.

El Dorado could not overcome a three inning bottom of the third on Sunday in a 5-4 loss at Hays.

The Broncos scored one in the top of the first and one in the second to grab an early 2-0 lead before the Larks scored one in the bottom of the second an three in the third to take the 4-2 lead.

El Dorado managed one in the top of the fourth and one in the sixth to tie up the ballgame, but Hays answered with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth.

Batting in the eight spot, Bronco Pete Carravallah batted 3-for-4. Ethan Payne went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Catlett had two RBIs batting 1-for-4.

El Dorado is back in action today, facing Dodge City at McDonald Stadium in two game series. Thursday the Broncos return to the road for a three game series at Liberal.

The Broncos are 2-3 on the season and in the middle of the pack of the Jayhawk League early in the season.
