The Augusta softball team has been dominating teams all season long. Monday night, the Orioles swept McPherson to improve to 15-1 on the season.
Game one lasted just three innings, as the Orioles rolled to a 15-0 victory. Gracie Johnston pitched a perfect game in three innings for the Orioles.
Both teams battled the windy conditions, as the wind kept several well-hit balls from leaving the field. All 15 of Augusta’s runs in game one were scored with two outs.
Gracie Johnston hit a sacrifice fly to score the first run of the game. Ryleigh McLallen followed with a single to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead.

In the third inning, McPherson quickly retired the first two Orioles. With two outs, Augusta scored 11 runs to go up 15-0 and end the game in the bottom of the third inning. The onslaught was a team effort as eight different Orioles drove in a run in the third inning.
Game two was much closer, but Augusta was still able to separate themselves and come away with an 8-2 victory to complete the sweep.
Ryleigh McLallen got things started with two-run triple in the first inning to give Augusta an early lead.
In the sixth inning, Augusta led 5-2, before Kourtney Divine smashed a three-run home run to put the game out of reach.
Madison Wheeler, Sophie Johnston, Morgan Pennycuff, and Jadyn Jackson each had two hits in game two. McPherson was led by Bailea Crist and Taylor Casebeer with two hits each.
Morgan Pennycuff earned the win for the Orioles in game two.
