Augusta hosted El Dorado for a Thursday night doubleheader as the Orioles completed the sweep of the Wildcats.
Gracie Johnston of Augusta threw a one-hitter in game one as the Orioles beat El Dorado 10-0 in five innings. Johnston struck out seven of the first nine batters she faced, and only gave up one walk in the contest. The win marked Johnston’s eighth of the season for the Orioles.
Ryleigh McLallen led the Orioles at the plate with three hits, one of which was a home run.
Morgan Pennycuff, Jadyn Jackson, and Bailey Pennycuff all finished with two hits for the Orioles.
The Orioles also cruised to a victory in game two, this time by a score of 11-1. In the bottom of the first inning, the Augusta offense exploded for seven runs, all of which were scored with two outs. Ashlyn Bowen, Katie Payne, and Morgan Pennycuff all drove in runs for the Orioles in the first inning.
In the second inning, Sophie Johnston added a solo home run.
The Orioles added three more runs in the third inning to go up 11-0. Madison Wheeler doubled to score two runs, and Kourtney Divine followed with a triple to bring Wheeler home.
Augusta freshman Morgan Pennycuff earned the win in the circle in game two, her sixth of the season.
Augusta is now 13-1 on the season and will host McPherson on Monday, April 30 for senior night.
El Dorado will take travel to McPherson for a doubleheader on Thursday, May 3.
