Two Butler county athletes were selected to play in the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association All-Star game at Mabee Arena on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. Both boys and girls will play on June 23rd. The girls will tip off at 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow.
Jonny Clausing of Augusta high school was selected to participate in the all-star game. Clausing dominated his senior season, earning All-state honors in class 4A-I while leading Augusta to a record of 19-4. 19 wins was the most by any Orioles team since the state championship team in 2002. In his final season as an Oriole, Clausing averaged 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game, while shooting 69 percent from the field. Causing will continue his basketball career at Washburn University next year.
On the girls side, Ryann Sterns of Andover Central was selected to participate in the All-Star game. Stearns was selected first-team All-State in class 4A-I in her senior season and will continue her basketball career as a member of the University of Texas at San Antonio women’s basketball team.
