Augusta faced Campus on Friday night after falling to Gardner-Edgerton in the opening round of the 25th Annual Lady Cat Classic in El Dorado.

The Orioles were able to bounce back with a 58-40 win.

Abbee Rhodes dominated the first quarter, scoring eight of the Orioles’ 12 points as the contest was knotted at 12 after on quarter.

Maddie Livingston led the Orioles in the second quarter, as she scored six points to help Augusta take a five-point lead into the locker room at the half.

“We were impatient offensively and tried to force things with quick shots and interior passing in the first half,” said Augusta head coach Tracy Anderson.

The Orioles came out of the locker room and dominated the third quarter, outscoring Campus 15-6.

Augusta was able to continue to pull away in the final quarter until the final buzzer sounded as Augusta led 58-40.

“We were much more patient in the second half,” said Anderson.

“Maddie Livingston had her best all around game. She rebounded great and really distributed the ball well. Our patience allowed Abbee (Rhodes) to finally get some room to work in the paint and she finished well. We were solid defensively, especially in the second half”

Abbee Rhodes finished with 20 points. Maddie Livingston scored 9. Madison Wheeler finished with 8, and Jayden Marlnee added 7.
